The Oil Change
The Practical Engine Oil and Maintenance Manual
Find the specification for your exact vehicle before choosing oil or setting a service interval.
The Oil Change is the starting point for building a routine around the vehicle you own. First identify the engine and find its requirements; then separate viscosity from performance standards and read the container information with care. The chapters cover filter application, preparation, draining and refilling, post-service checks, interval decisions, driving patterns, and a glove-box maintenance record. I favor oil changes around 5,000 miles, but the book puts that preference alongside the manufacturer’s schedule, time limits, and service monitor—not in place of them. For a new owner or a hands-on beginner, it offers an ordered way to prepare, do the job carefully, and know what to check afterward.
